Bashundhara Group, the country’s leading business conglomerate, on Saturday provided 25,000 face masks for Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to help protect the DMP members from deadly coronavirus.
Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and Vice Chairman Safwan Sobhan Tasvir jointly handed over the safety gear to DMP North Traffic Division’s Deputy Police Commissioner Md Saiful Hoque at the latter’s office in the capital.
After handing over the safety items, Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan said police of traffic division are playing the frontline role in the fight against the virus.
Members of law enforcement agencies are working round the clock to ensure public safety though they are at risk of coronavirus infection, he said.
He also assured the police officials of continuing Bashundhara Group’s support.
Deputy Commissioner Md Saiful Hoque expressed his gratitude to Bashundhara Group.
Earlier on Wednesday, Bashundhara Group provided 1,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) and 50,000 masks for Directorate General of Medical Service (DGMS).
Bashundhara Group also donated Tk 100 million to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. Besides, the business conglomerate is going to set up a 5,000-bed hospital for coronavirus patients.
