Shoppers safe at Bashundhara City

Bashundhara City Shopping Mall, the country’s biggest one, has finally reopened on Friday maintaining the health guidelines for both its traders and shoppers. The busiest ever shopping mall of the country where more than 50,000 people visit every day, reopened two and a half months after it shuttered on March 26, along with all others in the country, as the state authorities battled to contain the coronavirus outbreak. Bashundhara Group, the largest business and industrial conglomerate of the country that owns the lively and vibrant shopping mall, was the first to shut it down for ensuring social distancing after detection of first corona cases in the country. Other shopping malls countrywide quickly followed suit. Although the government eased its restrictions, Bashundhara Group refrained from reopening the mall ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. As to why, the country's leading attraction for people of all tastes where all sorts of items like clothes, shoes, jewellery, leather, artefacts, household accessories and fashion wears are available, embraced great loss considering the welfare of the country and its people. Bangladesh had a total of 84,379 cases of coronavirus and 1,139 deaths as of June 13, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) figures, and many precautions are still in place. Bashundhara City is back in business. But keeping people safe in one of the country’s busiest indoor spaces is an on-going task. So, a raft of safety measures has been introduced with its reopening that include keeping necessary hand sanitizers at all its entrances as well as at all its shops. Wearing masks before entering the mall has been made mandatory for all visitors, shoppers and staff numbers. Strict measures have been taken to ensure that social distancing guidelines are maintained. While entering the mall, security personnel are also screening the body temperature of visitors. As the mall has reopened under the new safeguards, both the traders and shoppers have expressed their utmost satisfaction over the wise decision of its reopening. Bashundhara Group has once again proved that it believes in serving the people and the country.
