46th death anniversary of Alhaj Abdus Sobhan observed

The 46th anniversary of death of renowned educationist, philanthropist and lawyer Alhaj Abdus Sobhan, father of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, was observed on Monday.

Khatm-e-Quran and special prayers seeking eternal peace of the departed soul were held at different mosques in the country, including Markajul Fikril Islami Bangladesh (Islamic Research Centre) at Bashundhara Residential Area in Dhaka, Jame mosques in various blocks in the residential area, Jamiat-ul-Abrar Madrasa Mosque at Bashundhara River View Residential area in Keraniganj, Sholokbahar Madrasa Mosque in Chattogram, Fatikchchari Madrasa Mosque, and Jamil Madrasa Mosque in Bogura.

Special prayers took place at Jame mosques at industrial units of Bashundhara Group and offices in different parts of the country after Zuhr prayers for seeking eternal peace of Alhaj Abdus Sobhan.

Earlier, students and teachers of Rahmania Madrasa and officials of Bashundhara Group performed jiarat and prayers at the grave of Alhaj Abdus Sobhan in Banani of the capital, seeking salvation of the departed soul.

Born on January 21, 1901, Abdus Sobhan contributed a lot to social reforms. He was a renowned lawyer of the Supreme Court. He died on August 9, 1975.
