The country’s largest hospital for coronavirus patients at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital is set to begin its operation.
All construction work, especially electric, is over and fine-tuning is now being done, said M M Jasim Uddin, chief executive of ICCB. Beds and equipment are also ready. He said the hospital is ready to go into operation in a day or two.
“We hope Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the hospital through videoconference,” he said. Bashundhara Group, the country’s largest business conglomerate, has come forward to establish the makeshift hospital for treating coronavirus patients.
The ICCB will be used as hospital for the time being and it will return to its previous shape once the crisis is over.
The officials of the Health Engineering Department of the government and Bashundhara Group have been working ceaselessly to materialize the dream project.
