Bashundhara Isolation Centre launched informally

Bashundhara Isolation Centre, dedicated to only COVID-19 patients at Bashundhara International Convention City (ICCB), was informally launched on Friday, said its director Dr Tanvir Ahmed. "The 2,000-bed isolation centre would formally start receiving COVID-19 patients from Sunday or Monday," said Dr Tanvir. "We'll allow only COVID-19 infected patients referred by other hospitals," he said adding that no patient can directly get admitted to the hospital. Meanwhile, the hospital's Chief Operating Officer MM Jasim Uddin said they have already received 450 members of police and Rapid Action Battaion (Rab) and treating them here. The cops have been getting treatment at the Bashundhara Isolation Centre since Eid-ul-Fitr day, he added. Earlier on April 9, the Health Minister informed about the decision of setting up a 2,000-bed Isolation Centre at ICCB. Bangladesh on Friday counted the highest new coronavirus cases 2,523 in the span of only 24 hours. The country has so far reported 42,844 coronavirus cases and deaths at 582.
