Bashundhara Group handed out food aid among flood-affected people in remote areas of Manikganj on Tuesday as part of its continuous support for the underprivileged. A total of 300 families marooned by flood water received the assistance in the hard-to-reach areas — Lacharagonj, Sutalorie and Azimnagar unions — around 20 kilometers away from centre of Harirampur Upazila. Food package includes 5 kilogram rice, 5 kilogram wheat, 1 kilogram lentil, sugar and oil. Among others, Manikganj Deputy Commissioner SM Ferdous, Harirampur Upazila Nirbani Officer Sabina Yasmin, Land Office Assistant Commissioner Billal Hossain, and Upazila Vice Chairman Begum Sajeda Chowdhury were present on the occasion. Appreciating the noble initiative of Bashundhara Group, Deputy Commissioner SM Ferdous said the company has always lent a helping hand to impoverished people. Bashundhara Group Chairman’s Chief Advisor Mahbub Morshed Hasan said the business conglomerate will continue providing aid until the flood situation improves. “Bashundhara Group aims to work for the country and the people. In any calamities, the company stands by the affected people, which is the ultimate reflection of pro-people thinking of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan,” he added. Around 5,000 families in the district so far received food from Bashundhara Group.
