Sayem Sobhan Anvir Re-Elected as BAJUS President

Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir has been reelected president of the Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) for a second term attaining the trust of gold businesses across the country.

BAJUS Election Board Chairman Alamgir Shamsul Alamin (Kajal) announced the result at a press briefing at BAJUS head office at Bashundhara City in the capital on Thursday.

Sayem Sobhan Anvir expressed gratitude to all gold businesses of the country for electing a new 35-member committee for the next tenure.

Badal Chandra Roy, Jarwa House managing director, is elected general secretary in the new committee for the 2023-25 term.

Board members and FBCCI directors Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury and Rakibul Alam Dipu, BAJUS former president Dr Dilip Kumar Roy and adviser Ruhul Amin Rasel were also present on the occasion. 

Addressing the press meet, Alamgir Shamsul Alamin hoped the newly elected committee would expand the jewellery industry at home and abroad.

"We are delighted to announce Sayem Sobhan Anvir as the new president of BAJUS who is also managing director of Bashundhara Group, a leading industrial conglomerate in the country. He has proven himself as the perfect leader of the jewellery industry over the years,” he said.

Newly elected vice presidents are MA Hannan Azad of Alankar Niketan, Gulzar Ahmed of Apan Jewellers, Quazi Nazneen Islam of Amin Jewellers, Reponul Hasan of  Jewellery House, Masudur Rahman of Gold World, Joynal Abedin Khokon of Rizvi Jewellers and Shamit Ghosh Apu of Fancy diamond.

Newly elected assistant secretaries are Mojibur Rahman Belal of Baitul Jewellers, Imran Chowdhury of Diamond Sea, Tazul Islam of Monimala Jewellers, Enamul Haque Bhuiyan Liton of Gold King Jewellers, Uttom Ghosh of Aftab Jewellers, Mostafa Kamal of Alvi Jewellers, Kazi Naznin Hossain of Zaara Gold, Aslam Khan of Royal Malabar Jewellers and Farida Hossain of Golden World Jewellers, Uttam Banik of Javeri Gold remain as treasurer of the trade body.

Members of the executive committee are Dr Dilip Kumar Roy of Diamond House, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam of Siraj Jewellers, Anwar Hossain of New General Jewellers, Pabitra Chandra Ghosh of PC Chandra Jewellers, Pawan Kumar Agarwal of Gitanjali Jewellers, Narayan Chandra Dey of Baishakhi Jewellers, Bidhan Malakar of Venus Diamond, Mazibar Rahman Khan of Rahman Jewellers, Wahiduzzaman of Al-Noor Jewellers, Joydev Saha of Pearl Oasis Jewellers, Ikbal Uddin of Sajonee Jewellers, Mohamamd Salam Riya Jewellers, Ganesh Debnath of Gourab Jewellers, Samsul Haque Bhuiyan of Swarnali Jewellers, Nazmul Huda Latif of Adar Jewellers and Ali Hossain of Dreamz Instrument Technology.

Anvir, managing director of Arisha Jewellers, has shown a new way for the traditional trade of the country since he was elected president of BAJUS in November 2021.
The jewellery industry in Bangladesh has been transformed in the years under the prudent leadership of its incumbent president Anvir. The young business leader has been driving BAJUS to develop the local jewellery industry through countrywide activities.

Over 40,000 jewellers are now doing business maintaining standards of products in a disciplined way, as the gold traders are united under the prudent leadership of Anvir. Local entrepreneurs have shown the courage to set up gold industries to transform Bangladesh into a gold-exporting country.
