NDC Delegation Visits EWMGL Media Outlets

A 100-member delegation of the National Defence College (NDC) exchanged views with the editors and senior journalists of different media outlets of East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL) in Bashundhara Residential Area of the capital on Wednesday.
The team, led by Maj Gen Md Mostagousur Rahman Khan, a faculty member of NDC, visited offices of the Daily Sun, a leading English newspaper, and News24, a popular news channel, as part of their course curriculum.
Managing Director of Bashundhara Group and EWMGL Sayem Sobhan Anvir welcomed the NDC delegation when they reached the East West Media Complex.
Later, they joined a view-exchange meeting with the editors and senior journalists of newspapers, TV channel and online portals of EWMGL, a concern of country’s leading industrial conglomerate Bashundhara Group, at the EWMGL conference room.

The NDC delegates learned about the latest trends in media, media management and various technical methods of news management during the visit.
Bashundhara Group and EWMGL Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir attended the event.
Besides, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Kaler Kantho Editor-in-Chief Imdadul Haq Milan, Kaler Kantho Editor Shahed Muhammad Ali, Bangla News Editor Jewel Mazhar and News24 Deputy Chief News Editor Ashikur Rahman Srabon were present at the programme conducted by Daily Sun Editor Rezaul Karim Lotus.
Speaking on the occasion, Sayem Sobhan Anvir said among all the business entities, Bashundhara Group gives special importance to its media outlets.
He thanked the NDC delegation for choosing EWMGL for the visit as part of the course curriculum.
Speaking on the occasion, Maj Gen Md Mostagousur Rahman Khan said their visit to the media houses is to know first-hand knowledge about the working method of the media.
He thanked the East West Media Group Ltd for providing them with this opportunity.
While briefing the NDC delegation on the activities of EWMGL, Daily Sun Editor Rezaul Karim Lotus said the media group, with neutrality at its heart, has emerged as the largest media group in South Asia for running seven outlets under a single roof that include the Daily Sun, two vernacular dailies --Bangladesh Pratidin and Kaler Kantho, a bilingual online portal named banglanews24.com, FM radio station Radio Capital and two TV channels -- News24 and T Sports.
He also said journalists working in the EWMGL media outlets enjoy absolute freedom with no interference from the owners and they never compromise with journalism ethics. The journalists always maintain objectivity, give voice to the voiceless and ensure equal treatment to all as deserved, he said.
Later, the NDC delegates visited the newsrooms of different media outlets of EWMGL.
The team members included faculty members and participants of the NDC Course 2023. Apart from civil and military officials of Bangladesh, 29 members of armed forces of 17 countries have taken part in the course.
During the visit, Bashundhara Group and EWMGL Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir handed over crests and souvenirs to the participants of the course.
Maj Gen Md Mostagousur Rahman Khan also presented crests and souvenirs to Sayem Sobhan Anvir and all editors of EWMGL media outlets.
