EWMGL’s new press unit starts journey in Bogura

Sayem Sobhan Anvir inaugurates press unit in Bogra

A new press unit of East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL) started its operation in Bogura on Sunday in a bid to reach out to the readers of northern region at the earliest possible time.

From now on, three popular dailies -- the daily Sun, the daily Bangladesh Pratidin and the daily Kaler Kantho -- will be published from the Bogura press and will reach the readers of 23 districts of Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions in the early morning.

Abdul Mannan, MP of Bogura-1, and Managing Director of the country’s leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group and EWMGL Sayem Sobhan Anvir inaugurated the press unit at Kalibala of Bogura city.

At the inaugural ceremony, Sayem Sobhan Anvir wished the press unit continuous success and sought everyone’s wholehearted support. “We want to work for the development of Bogura,” he said.

Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, also the CEO of News24, conducted the event while Kaler Kantho Editor Imdadul Haq Milan and daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury were present, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, local lawmaker Abdul Mannan said Bashundhara Group is working for the welfare of the country and it’s a matter of joy for this region that top three dailies will be published from Bogura.

Terming Bogura the capital of Northern region, he said Bangladesh Pratidin, Kaler Kantho and daily Sun will work for the progress of this region through their news and views.

Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam said Bogura will be the centre point after Dhaka for East West Media Group Ltd.

“Bogura is a dream place for us. East West Media Group wants to stay with the development of this region,” he said.

Kaler Kantho Editor Imdadul Haq Milan also wished the new press unit good luck.

Among others, Kaler Kantho Executive Editor Mostafa Kamal, News24 Executive Director Hasnain Khurshid, newly promoted SP Arifur Rahman Mandal, Sadar Upazila Chairman Abu Sufian and Bogura Press Club President Mozammel Haque were also present on the occasion.
