Daily Sun Celebrates 8th Anniversary

English newspaper Daily Sun stepped into ninth year of operations on Wednesday with a fresh vow to project positive stories of Bangladesh globally.

On Wednesday, Daily Sun organised a get-together of readers and well-wishers, including politicians, diplomats, editors and academics, at its head office of Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital.

National Parliament Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was the chief guest while State Minister for Information Tarana Halim and Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir were a special guest on the occasion. Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury made the welcome address.

Addressing the function, National Parliament Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said media have an important role to project positive Bangladesh globally publishing success stories of people.

Speaker also emphasized on focusing socio-economic developments in through producing news in the newspaper for the shake of continuation of a democratic trend.

Appreciating the newspaper, Speaker further said Daily Sun has taken place in the mind of readers by presenting authentic contents maintaining objective journalism.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and his spouse Sabrina Sobhan inaugurated the daylong celebration by cutting a cake along with the guests at the function.

State Minister for Information Tarana Halim, Indian High Commissioner Harsha Bardhan Sringla, Brazilian Ambassador Howao Tabazara and several members of the diplomatic core in the country.

Among others, Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, Publisher Maynal Hossain Chowdhury, Kalerkantho Editor Imdadul Haq Milon, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha Managing Director Abul Kalam Azad, Daily Sun Executive Editor Shiabur Rahman, Kalerkantho Executive Editor Mostofa Kamal, Banglanews24 Consulting Editor Jewel Mazhar and News24 Executive Director Hasnain Khurshid, Dhaka Reporters Unity President Saiful Islam were present on the occasion.

Indian High Commissioner Harsha Bardhan Shringla informed that he prefers Daily Sun first every morning as the newspaper presents positive stories of the country.

Besides, leaders of different political parties came to Daily Sun office to wish the auspicious moment of the eighth anniversary.

Former President Badruddhoza Choudhury, BNP leader Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf, Jatiya Party Co-Chairman Golam Mohammad Quder, Secretary General Ruhul Amin Hawlader also came to Daily Sun office to wish the newspaper staff.

Tarana Halim also lauded the positive transformation of Daily Sun in last one year creating own position by maintaining neutrality and ethical journalism.

Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury said Daily Sun is now dominating stand as the second player and it will clinch the top position in future.

Marking the anniversary, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina greeted Daily Sun. They issued separate messages in this regard.

From the first day of commencing newsgathering operations on the day in 2010, the newspaper has been maintaining innovation in news production and courageous journalism.
