News24 celebrates 3rd anniversary

Popular satellite television channel of the country ‘News24’ has stepped into fourth year of operations on Sunday (July 28).

Owned by Bangladesh’s largest media house East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL), the TV channel already have won the hearts of lakhs of viewers merely in three years.

Marking the third anniversary of News24, Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan handed over lifetime achievement awards to Economist Wahiduddin Mahmud and Journalist Kamal Lohani.

He was the chief guest at the anniversary function of the news-based channel while veteran politicians Amir Hossain Amu and Tofail Ahmed were guests of honour on the occasion.

"We uphold the spirit of our Liberation War.  News24 and other media entities of Bashundhara Group will keep it up by eliciting stories from mass people." he added.

Ahmed Akbar Sobhan said News24 is highlighting Bangladesh across the world projecting positive stories of the country.

He also appreciated the people behind the news operations of the channel to maintain neutrality in contents.

Bashundhara Group Vice Chairmen Safwan Sobhan, Safiat Sobhan and Managing Director Sayem Sobhan were also present on the occasion.

People from all walks of life, including academics, journalists, intellectuals, writers, cultural figures, politicians, leaders of social and business organizations have come to greet the flowers at the International Convention City, Bashundhara (ICCB) adjacent to Kuril Bishwa Road in the capital from this morning.

At that time, Managing Director of the country's leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group and East West Media Group Sayem Sobhan Anvir with the guests inaugurated the program of News24 anniversary.

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon, Additional Inspector General of Police Maruf Hossain, PM’s Special Assistant Barrister Biplob Barua, News24 CEO and Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naeem Nizam, Kaler Kantho editor Imdadul Haq Milon, Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury were also present.

Bearing the slogan ‘Aamra Niropekkho Noi, Jonogoner Pokkhe’ (we are not impartial, we support the people), New24 gained trust from the people through serving a wide array of realistic, constructive and mighty news items.

Apart from 24-hour news updates, the channel earned huge response through one of its main feature--broadcasting exclusive live programs.
