News24 Honours Swadhin Bangla Football Team

News24, a television channel owned by Bangladesh’s largest business and industrial conglomerate Bashundhara Group, has accorded a grand reception to the football heroes of Swadhin Bangla Football Team in recognition of their contribution to the country’s liberation war in 1971.

The channel also gave each member of the team a crest and a cheque for Tk 50,000 at a ceremony at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital on Saturday.

Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu handed over the crests and cheques.
Swadhin Bangla Football Team drew the world’s attention to the suffering of war-torn Bangladesh during the liberation war.

The members of the team raised public awareness about the country’s war by playing exhibition matches in India.

The members accorded reception are M Jakaria Pintu (captain), Protap Shankar Hajra (vice-captain), Mohammad Abdus Sattar, Md Kaikobad, AKM Nowsheruzzaman, Saidur Rahman Patel, Kazi Salahuddin, Aminul Islam Suruz, Bimal Kar, Sheikh M Taslim Uddin, Biren Das Biru, Lutfar Rahman, Suvash Chandra Saha, Fazle Sadain Mridha and Sheikh Ashraf Ali.
