Bashundhara MD Sayem Sobhan Anvir Gets CIP Card Award

Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir has been honoured with CIP (Commercially Important Person) status in recognition of his contribution to industrialisation in the country.

He has given the status for the year 2016 as a sponsor director of Meghna Cement Mills Limited, a concern of country’s leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group.

The Ministry of Industries conferred the CIP status on 55 other entrepreneurs at a ceremony held at a city hotel on Thursday. Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu handed over the CIP cards to the entrepreneurs.
The CIPs have been selected under seven categories -- ex-officio, large-scale industry, medium industry, small industry, micro industry, cottage industry and service industry. Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Md Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) President AKM Selim Osman, Bangladesh Textile Mills Association President Tapan Chowdhury and acting Industries Secretary M Abdul Halim, among others, spoke at the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Amir Hossain Amu said the government is focusing on creating new entrepreneurs in the country alongside nurturing the existing businesspersons.Highlighting the prospects of Economic Zone model, he said local entrepreneurs will get priority in setting up industries in the special economic zones and other designated locations.The industries minister also said Bangladesh can be one of the richest countries in the world if its marine resources can properly be tapped.“We don’t have any lack of resources. If we can properly collect the resources from the sea areas we got from India and Myanmar through legal battles in the international court and use those in the right way, I believe, it will not only make (Bangladesh) a developed country, but also one of the richest ones in the world,” he added.Eight business leaders are among the CIP card awardees for 2016. They have received the status under ex-officio category. They are the then president of FBCCI Abdul Matlub Ahmad, then president of Bangladesh Chamber of Industries AK Azad, incumbent President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association Md Siddiqur Rahman, President of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association AKM Salim Osman, then president of Foreign Investors Chambers of Commerce and Industry Rupali Haque Chowdhury, president of Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Selima Ahmad, president of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association Tapan Chowdhury and, president of National Association of Small and Cottage Industries of Bangladesh Mirza Nurul Gani Shovon.A total of 20 entrepreneurs have been awarded with CIP cards under the large-scale industry category. They are STS Holdings Ltd Managing Director Khandker Monir Uddin, Navana Real Estate Ltd Vice-chairman Sajedul Islam, Concord Real Estate and Development Ltd Chairman SM Kamal Uddin, GME Agro Ltd Navana Real Estate Ltd Vice-chairman Sazedul Islam Chowdhury Hasan Mahmud and Sheltech Pvt Ltd Managing Director Toufiq M Seraj.Twelve businesspeople have been awarded with CIP status under medium industry category. They are RFL Plastics Director Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, Prome Agro Foods Ltd Chairman Enamul Hasan Khan, Oeko-Tex Ltd Managing Director Abdus Shobhan, Madhabdi Dyeing Finishing Mills Ltd Managing Director Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan Liton, Fu Wang Food Ltd Managing Director Arif Ahmed Chowdhury, Aqua Mineral Turpentine & Solvents Plants Ltd Managing Director Ramjul Seraj, Sitadel Apparels Ltd Managing Director Md Mahidul Islam Khan, Jalalabad Frozen Foods Ltd Managing Director Abdul Jabbar Molla, Bosumoti Distribution Ltd Managing Director ZM Golam Nabi, Igloo Food Ltd director ASM Mainuddin Monem, BRB Polymer Ltd Managing Director Md Mozibar Rahman, and Mosharraf Spinning Mills Ltd Managing Director Mosharraf Hossain.Three entrepreneurs have received CIP cards for their contribution to the service sector under the same category. They are Spectra Engineers Ltd Chairman Khan Md Aftab Uddin, Shanta Properties Ltd Director Jesmin Sultan and Building for Future Ltd Managing Director Tanvirul Haque Probal.Kiam Metal Industries Ltd Managing Director Mizber Rahman, Fuji Inc Industries Chairman Farhana Monem, RMM Leather Industries Chairman Mohiuddin Ahmed Mahin, Runner Bricks Vice-chairman Mozammel Hossain, Sabjiana Deputy Managing Director Md Abu Shahriar and QNS Container Services Chairman Nurul Qayyum Khan got the award under the small industry category.Technomedia Managing Director Joshoda Jibon Debnath got CIP card under micro-industry category while AB Fashion Maker Proprietor Sanaul Haque Babul got the card under cottage industry category.
