Deputy Managing Director of Bashundhara Group Mr. Mostafizur Rahman unveiled the products. New baby products are made with high quality imported raw materials and produced suiting to local environment and practices using state of the art technology as Bashundhara always does, company’s senior officials informed. Baby diapers with super absorbent power will cost Tk 80 each pack and baby tissue with lotion used on it will cost Tk 40 while the baby price of baby wipes is yet to be fixed. The quality of these products is strictly maintained through computerised system, officials also informed. They said no products for babies were produced in the country as most of the baby items were imported from Singapore and Thailand. The latest initiative of Bashundhara is a giant leap for the country towards self sufficiency. As part of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity BG will donate Tk 1.00 from the sale of every packet of new baby products, which would be spent for handicapped and underprivileged children. Child Savers Foundation (CSF) will work with BG to this effect, informed Mr. Mostafizur Rahman. Technical Adviser to BG Chairman Mr. TIM Latiful Hassan, Head of Finance and Accounts Mr. M. Moynal Hossain Chowdhury, noted litterateur and Joint Editor of the Daily Kalerkantha Mr. Imdadul Haque Milon, and Executive Director of Child Savers Foundation (CSF) Dr. MA Muhith, among others, were also present at the colourful function. Mr. Milon said, “Dependency has penetrated into our blood and we had to buy foreign baby products at a huge cost. But the days will go after the launch of the world-class products at a price affordable to even general people.”
