Bashundhara Group Working for Welfare of Nation

Bashundhara Cement Children-Adolescent Art Competition for Dhaka Metro division was held at Bashundhara City shopping complex in the city on Friday. Bashundhara Cement, a sister concern of the country’s largest business conglomerate, Bashundhara Group (BG), organized the competition to mark the 41st year of Bangladesh’s independence alongside introducing its flagship product. Eminent writer and editor of Daily Kaler Kantho Imdadul Haque Milon attended the ceremony as chief guest while renowned sculptor Professor Hamiduzzaman Khan and artist Professor Syed Abul Barak Alvi, judges of the competition, were also present as special guests. Md Shafiqur Rahman, senior general manager (Admin & Security) of Bashundhara City Development Ltd., Khandaker Kingshuk Hossain, deputy general manager (Cement Sector), and Md. Saiful Islam Helali, chief marketing officer (Cement Sector) of BG, also spoke at the programme. While speaking on the occasion, Imdadul Haque Milon said Bashundhara Group has been working for the welfare of the nation and its people through its business ventures and contributing immensely to the overall development of the country. The group is also serving the nation by taking up various CSR programmes for the downtrodden. “Nations which have a penchant for arts and culture are also far advanced in socioeconomic development,” said Milon, adding that today’s tiny tots would grow up as future big names and would surpass renowned artists like Shilpachariya Zainul Abedin or SM Sultan if opportunities were given to explore their latent talents. The competition is being held under three categories –- ‘Ka’ (play group to class 2), ‘Kha’ (class 3 to class 5) and ‘Ga’ (class 6 to class 8). The winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) from each group of the divisional rounds will qualify for the grand finale. The winners of the final round will get 30 exciting prizes, including laptop (1st prize), Tk 10,000 (2nd prize) and Tk 5,000 (3rd prize). Noted artists Hamidu­zzaman Khan and Syed Abul Barak Alvi are adjudicating at the competition.
