Bashundhara Multi Food Limited stands beside a Rajshahi girl who loses leg

Sonia is Getting a Prosthetic Leg by the Greatness of Bashundhara Group

Bashundhara Group, the leading business conglomerate in the country, has stood beside a Rajshahi girl and a college student named Sonia Khatun who lost her one leg in an accident when she was only two years old.

Bashundhara Group chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan provided Tk one lakh (cash) from his personal fund to the helpless girl of Rajshahi.

Officials of Bashundhara gave financial assistance along with different types of gifts to the girl for addition of her a prosthetic leg at 12:00 pm on Tuesday. 

During this time, food items produced by Bashundhara Group were handed over to the girl and her family members as the gift of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.

Earlier, a report on inhuman life of Sonia and her family was published in a newspaper and that drew attention to Bashundhara Group Vice Chairman and Bashundhara Multi Food Limited Managing Director Shafiat Sobhan.

He took the initiative instantly to gather information of Sonia.

The Bashundhara Vice Chairman came to know that Tk one lakh is needed for the addition of a prosthetic leg for Sonia. Accordingly, the Bashundhara Multi Food Limited took such a noble initiative.

On behalf of the Bashundhara Multi Food, DGM (Head of Bulk Sales) Md Redwanur Rahman provided the assistance to Sonia.

Tofazzal Hossain Bhuiyan, sales in-charge of Rajshahi Division of  Bashundhara Multi Food Products handed over the assistance to Sonia and her family while Abrar Shahriar, territory sales executive of Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj and Rafiqul Islam, sales representative were present on the occasion.

College student Sonia Khatun became very emotional after receiving the financial assistance from the Chairman of Bashundhara Group for addition of her artificial leg and she broke down in tears at that moment. Sonia and her family expressed their gratitude to the Chairman of Bashundhara Group. 

Wishing a long life of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, Sonia said, "Bashundhara Group officials came to my house and they stood beside me. They gave me Tk one lakh as well as many gift items for my family members. I am really very happy on them. This day will be a memorable day in my life." 

Sonia Khatun is an inhabitant of Purba Dhopapara area of Puthia upazila in Rajshahi. She at the age of two lost her one leg in a train accident. In 2014, the LabAid Group assisted her with a prosthetic leg. As she grows up, the artificial leg becomes shorter and useless for long-time use.  

Along with her study at intermediate level, she went to Rajshahi for training with an assurance of getting a job so that the family will become solvent.

But before joining her service, all the activities were halted due to coronavirus spread. Her father Majibur Rahman is a mentally challenged person and mother Rahima Begums works at someone else’s house.
