Bashundhara Group Distributes Relief in Bogura.

oor people receive relief materials from Bashundhara Group, a leading business conglomerate in the country, in Bogura district on Thursday. - Sun photo Bashundhara Group, a leading business conglomerate of the country, distributed relief items and face masks among poor and destitute people in various upazilas of Bogura district on Thursday. The Kaler Kantho, one of the reputed Bengali national dailies of Bashundhara Group, provided relief through its social organisation Shuvasangha. Thousand of families of Dhunat, Shahjahanpur and Sherpur upazilas received the relief from Shuvasangha at the critical situation caused by Covid-19 pandemic. Relief items include 10kg rice, 3kg dal (pulse) and 3kg ata (wheat flour). Three hundred families got relief items and face masks at Dhunat NU Pilot Model High School premises. Dukhini Khatun, a blind woman, became happy with the relief. She was abandoned by husband two years back. Five members of her family, including parents, are visually impaired. They have to depend on financial assistance of others. Dukhini Khatun and her sister Ajina Khatun both said Bashundhara relief is of great help to them in the corona pandemic. Dhunat UNO Sanjay Kumar Mahanta hailed Bashundhara Group for standing beside the distressed people in the critical stage of their life. “Bashundhara Group has started to distribute relief among vulnerable people across the country. The Group is giving relief in different places of Bogura, including my upazila. I hope other corporate houses and affluent people will follow the example,” he said. Dhunat Mayor AGM Badshah, OC Kripa Sindhu Bala, Shuvasangha Director Zakaria Jaman and Kaler Kantho Bureau Chief Limon Bashar, among others, were present. Meanwhile, Shuvasangha distributed relief among 300 families at Ulipur Amiria Somotullah Mohila Fazil Degree Madrashah at Sherpur. Mozibur Rahman Maznu, Bogura Awami League president and Sherpur upazila chairman, said, “Like elsewhere in the globe, the whole Bangladesh is ravaged by the Covid-19. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called upon private organisations to assist the government in handling the situation. Responding to the call, Bashundhara Group has stood beside the vulnerable people.” Sherpur UNO Md Moinul Islam, Mayor Jane Alam Khoka, OC Shahidul Islam and Shuvasangha Director Zakaria Jaman, were present on the occasion, among others. Shuvasangha distributed relief among 300 ultra-poor families at Majhira Model High School compound in Shahjahanpur. Speaking on the occasion, Shahjahanpur Upazila Chairman Sohrab Hossain Sannu said, “I tender gratitude to Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan for extending help to the poor people in the critical juncture of the country. Many other corporate houses in the country are indifferent towards public sufferings. Only Bashundhara Group has set an example of humanity.” Among others, Shahjahanpur UNO Asif Ahmed, OC Abdullah Al Mamun and Shuvasangha Director Zakaria Jaman were present.
