Bashundhara Group Builds Five More Convention Centres

Bashundhara Group, the largest conglomerate of the country, has started constructing five more contemporary convention centres in the Bashundhara extension area in capital’s Baridhara. At a formal programme, BG Co-chairman Sadat Sobhan Thursday inaugurated the construction work of the new meeting hubs. The centres, which are being built on 80 bighas of land, will be completed in next nine months, BG officials hoped. On an average, over 2,000 people can be accommodated at each centre while the largest one can host 4,000 guests. There will be parking facilities of some 4,000 cars in the five centres, they said. “All necessary facilities the modern convention centres in the developed countries provide will be available at the five centres,” an official said. Besides, a super shop and mobile shops will be set up in the area of each centre. Now the number of convention centres is seven as BG already has got two in its residential area of Baridhara. Engineer M Foizullah, who was the architect of many famous establishments in the country, including Bashundhara City Shopping Mall and Grameen Phone Corporate Building, has designed the centres, they added. The centres are being constructed by using modern technologies. The innovative structures of the centres are rare in the country. Among others, Mahabub Morshed, chief advisor of the BG, Abdus Sattar and Azam Khan, advisors to the BG chairman, Mohammad Abu Tayeb, media advisor of the BG, other BG high officials and engineers were present on the occasion.
