Banglanews24 Celebrates 8th Anniversary

Banglanews24.com, country’s premier news portal, celebrated its 8th anniversary on Sunday amid festivity to cherish the years of hard work and commitment to bringing ‘news & entertainment 24/7’ to millions of readers.

Banglanews began its journey in 2010 as an online news outlets of East West Media Group (EWMGL), a concern of Bashundhara Group, with the aim to reach every corner of the world through digital platform.

As part of the celebration, EWMGL Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon cut a cake at Banglanews office on EWMGL premises in the city’s Bashundhara Residential Area on Sunday.
Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, Kaler Kantho Editor Imdadul Haq Milon and Banglanews24.com Consultant Editor Jewel Mazhar were present on the occasion.

EWMGL Managing Director Sayem Sobhan congratulated the Banglanews team for achieving professional excellence and wished them continuous success.

“Many online news portals have come and gone. But we made it. We have to continue moving forward in the right direction. I am very happy for your success,” he said, expressing hope that Banglanews will do even better in future.

Earlier, Jewel Mazhar welcomed Sayem Soban at Banglanews office with a bouquet.

Wishing Banglanews on its anniversary, Rashed Khan Menon said, “Online news portals like Banglanews have a great responsibility for promoting ethics and values in news presentation. This helps fend off the fabricated news and so-called online media.”

Jatiya Party Co-chairman Golam Quader and General Secretary Ruhul Amin Howlader, News24 Executive Director Hasnain Khorshed, Bangladesh Pratidin Executive Editor Peer Habibur Rahman, Kaler Kantho Executive Editor Mostofa Kamal and Radio Capital Executive Director Mehedi Malek Sajib were also present on the occasion.
Earlier on Saturday evening, Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan inaugurated the celebration by cutting a cake and unveiling an anniversary special magazine of the online news portal.

On Sunday, representatives of political parties and corporate houses visited Banglanews office to greet the Banglanews team to mark the anniversary.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) also greeted the news portal on its 8th anniversary. PM’s Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokon conveyed the greetings with flowers at Banglanews24 office on Sunday afternoon.

Parliament Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah wished Banglanews24 all the best by presenting a bouquet to its Consultant Editor Jewel Mazhar.

BNP and Jatiya Party congratulated the news portal separately. A BNP team, comprising its Vice Chairman Selima Rahman, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury and Joint Secretary General Khairul Khabir Khokon and Executive Committee member Farida Yasmin, visited news outlet office.

Indian High Commission in Dhaka and Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre also greeted Banglanews on its anniversary.

High Commission’s Press Attache Ranjan Mondal and IGCC Director Vishal Jyoti Das visited Banglanews office to wish the internet newspaper on its birthday.

National cricket team member Taskin Ahmed visited Banglanews office. “Banglanews24 is nice. Best wish for the news portal all the time,” he said.

Banglanews reaches millions of readers by producing 300 news items every day on average.

Banglanews24 Consultant Editor Jewel Mazhar said the internet newspaper has a wide range of coverage areas having correspondents at the upazila level and bureau offices at the divisional level.

Meanwhile, the 8th founding anniversary of Banglanews24.com, the most popular online news portal, was observed in the port city.

The news portal Chittagong bureau office organised a colourful gathering to mark the founding anniversary at Engineer Abdul Khaleq auditorium of Chattogram Press Club in the city’s Jamal Khan area in the afternoon.

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor and city unit Awami League (AL) General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin inaugurated the programme by cutting a cake.
