20 Underprivileged Women Receive Free Sewing Training at Shuvosangho Training Centre

“I am receiving training on how to operate a sewing machine by the initiative of Bashundhara Shuvosangho. After the completion of the training, Bashundhara group will also give me a sewing machine. Now I can be self-sufficient,” said Masura Khatun, 30, who came to take sewing training.

Twenty underprivileged women are being given sewing training free of cost through the Shuvosangho Training Centre at Mathurapur of Bhayna Union under Sujanagar Upazila in Pabna. The Bashundhara Group, the country's largest industrial conglomerate, will gift one sewing machine to each woman after the training. Imdadul Haq Milan, the famous fiction writer and the Editor-in-Chief of the daily Kaler Kantho, will hand over sewing machines to the trained women on behalf of the Bashundhara Group.

Women are not staying home nowadays. Marginalised women are moving forward by removing various social barriers. Here, the motivation to move forward is Bashundhara Group. Rural poor women are being trained to make them self-reliant. They are now weaving new dreams through the thread.
People of various economic classes and professions of Sujanagar Upazila have welcomed such a great initiative of Bashundhara Group. Principal of Sujanagar Nizam Uddin Azgar Ali Degree College Alamgir Hossain said that Bashundhara Group has come forward to make the marginalised women of the remote areas of our upazila self-reliant. Masura Khatun tied the knot to a person hailed from Tantipara of Chartarapur Union of Pabna Sadar Upazila. Her husband used to work in a jeweller's shop. After one year of marriage, her husband abandoned her. Now Masura lives in her father's house. Some people passed bad comments to her mentioning the family’s insolvency. Masura thinks of doing something to save herself from all of these. Bashundhara Group gave the opportunity to stand on her own feet. Masura is being trained regularly at the Shuvosangho Training Centre. After the training, she will also be given a sewing machine.

Masura did not have the confidence to turn her lot. But the situation has changed now. Not just Masura, every woman receiving training here has opened up the avenues of their dreams. By helping them stand on their own feet, Bashundhara Shuvosangho is working to realise their elusive dreams.
