Bashundhara Group Receives Intellectual Property Protection Award

Bashundhara Group, the country’s largest business conglomerate, has received Intellectual Property Protection Award for logging ‘highest number of registration’ with the copyright office.

The national level award manifests the valuable contribution from individual and organisations to promote the copy right through responsible activities.

On behalf of the industrial conglomerate, company secretary Naseemul Hye received the certificate of honour from Bangladesh Copyright Board president Sabiha Parveen at a function on Wednesday.

Registrar of Copyrights Jafor Raja Chowdhary was also present at the award giving ceremony at Bangladesh Copyright Office in the city’s Agargaon area.

In April last year, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid announced the intellectual property protection awards for contribution to protect intellectual property through copyright registration.

The handover of the award to the winners for the years of 2020 and 2021 was delayed due to pandemic situation.

Registrar Jafor Raja Chowdhary said the copyright office always tries to promote the organisation and individual who contribute to innovative works.

In a reaction, senior execute director Naseemul Hye said the award is not only an honour to the Bashundhara Group but also recognition for all companies having products in the global market.

“Copyright certificate is important for those organisations which export products and services abroad. Through the copyright certificate, we can prove that the company complies with good governance,” he said, appreciating the prompt role of copyright office.

Naseemul requested the authorities concerned to continue the award programme to recognise Bangladeshi companies which are working across the world.

VITTI Sthapati Brindo (Bangabandhu Mausoleum), Habibullah Al Imran (Digital Painting of Bangabandhu), Bank Asia (First IP registered financial institute) also received the awards along with the Bashundhara Group for the year 2020.

The winners of 2021 are Mostafizur Rahman and Faizur Rahman Siqque (Crop-field portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman), PHP Group (Book on folk song), IPDC (Folk song promotion) and Master Academy (Computer programming training).

Bangladesh Copyright Office was established in 1967 to register the ownership of intellectual property as a quasi-judiciary organisation.
