Bashundhara Distributes Relief Among 6,000 Families at Rupganj

Bashundhara Group, the country’s largest business conglomerate, distributed relief among 6,000 distressed families at various places of Rupganj upazila under Narayanganj on Saturday.
The relief was distributed at the initiative of Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir amid corona pandemic.
Each of the insolvent families received relief packet which will meet its food demand for one month.
Hailing from Rupganj union, Daudpur union and Kanchan municipality, poor and destitute received the relief items given by the Group.
In Daudpur, relief items brought happiness to insolvent, elderly, widow and physically challenged people whose poverty and sufferings have got intensified amid the pandemic.
One of the relief recipients is rickshaw puller Afzal Hossain.  Aged 70, he is not capable of doing hard-work and shouldering the burden of family members.
Acknowledging the magnanimity of Bashundhara Group, he said the country’s largest business conglomerate always stands by the poor and destitute amid tough time.
“Bashundhara Group always stands by us whenever we are hard hit by famine and starvation. We received relief from the Group at the outset of the corona last year. Now, we are happy to have the Group beside us,” he said. 
Afzal Hossain claimed to be unable to meet demand of six-member family which his limited income.
He hailed Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir for arranging the relief for the distressed people amid Covid-19 pandemic.
Daudpur Union Parishad chairman Nurul Islam Jahangir, Bangladesh Hawkers League joint secretary Kamal Hossain, district Chhatra League organising secretary Ashikul Islam Khokon, panel chairman Abdur Razzak, Ainal Hossain and Monir Hossain were present at the event.
In Rupganj, insolvent families received the packets of food items arranged by Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and expressed rejoice.
After receiving the relief, Jahura Begum, a destitute woman, said “Bashundhara Group is always beside us. We are so poor that we cannot afford food thrice a day. Corona pandemic has aggravated the situation with unemployment. However, the relief will meet our demand for one month. We pray for gradual development of the Bashundhara Group,” she said.
Rupganj Union Parishad chairman Salauddin Bhuiyan, former Chhatra League vice-president Hafizur Rahman Sajib, former district Chhatra League vice-president Moniruzzaman and former Upazila Chhatra League president Masum Chowdhury Apu attended the relief distribution programme.  
In Kanchan municipality, poor and destitute got relief arranged by the Bashundhara Group.
Karimon Afroza, an elderly woman of the municipality and recipient of the relief, said “Earning of our family has come to zero level. We can neither buy food nor pay rent of the house. In this situation, relief is of great help to us. We will be able to survive well for one month with Bashundhara relief.”
Kanchan municipality mayor Rafikul Islam and Inspire Group managing director Tariqul Islam were present, among others.
