Bashundhara Cup Golf Tournament to end today, Bashundhara Group MD to distribute prize

 Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir said that the group will continue its support for the development of golf in the country.

He made the assurance while addressing at the prize giving ceremony of the two-day long ‘Bashundhara Cup Golf Tournament-2022’ at the Bhatiary Golf and Country Club (BGCC) in Chattogram on Saturday.

Addressing the prize distribution ceremony as a special guest, the Bashundhara Group MD said the sport is the representation of youth, energy and morality.

“Our dynamic Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina always patronises the sports in every possible way,” Sayem Sobhan Anvir said.

“Bashundhara Group is involved with sports and operating the country’s three leading football clubs Bashundhara Kings, Sheikh Jamal and Sheikh Russel,” he said.

“On behalf of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, I will assure you that Bashundhara Group will be with any type of requirement for development of golf in the country,” he promised.

Bangladesh Army 24th Infantry Division General Officer Commanding (GOC) Major General Md. Saiful Abedin attended the prize giving ceremony as the chief guest.

The GOC in his speech hailed the Bashundhara Group for its contribution to social welfare, sports and other sectors.

“Bashundhara Group is the largest business conglomerate in the country. The group’s Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir has assured continued support of patronising golf. I welcome the assurance,” Saiful Abedin said.

“The group came forward for the first time to sponsor in a golf tournament at the BGCC,” he mentioned, expecting that they will have more tournaments sponsored by the group in future days to come.

“The business group has lots of contributions in corporate social responsibilities. They always stand beside people as they are ‘For the People, for the Country’. We appreciate their efforts,” said the GOC, also the president of BGCC.

“Bashundhara will keep serving people as they stood by the nation and government during many critical situations of the country,” he hoped further.

The GOC also congratulated the winners of the tournament.

Golfer Minhaz Md Shakil became the champions of the tournament while Major Md Farookuzzaman Fakir finished runners-up and Toufiqul Islam claimed the second runners-up.

Besides, Nahid Islam became the winner in the ladies category while Umme Sadia Chowdhury in the junior category. Shamsul Huda Chowdhury emerged as the champions in the senior category.

The guests handed over the prizes among the winners.

Bashundhara Bitumen, a concern of the country’s leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group, sponsored the event.

A total of 180 golfers from home and abroad took part in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the two-day long tournament kicked off at the BGCC on Friday. However, it was officially inaugurated on Saturday morning. Bangladesh Air Force Base Zahurul Haque Air Officer Commanding Air Vice Marshal Md Zahidur Rahman inaugurated the event as the chief guest.

 The tournament Committee Chairman Farid Uddin conducted the inaugural session while Bashundhara Group Public Relations Department Deputy General Manager (DGM) Squadron Leader (retd) Md Golam Mostafa, Manager Lt (retd) Abdul Mannan, Assistant General Manager (Brand- Communication) Saiful Islam Rubel and BGCC Chief Executive Officer Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Md Toufiqul Islam were present among others.
