The club premises of Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra was decorated with lighting, banners and festoons. A special prayer was offered after placing of wreaths at the grave of Sheikh Russel at Banani in the capital. Quran Khatam was also held in the camp of the club. In this way, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra observed the 52nd birthday of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of Banga-bandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on Sunday.
The programme of the club started in the afternoon with placing of floral wreaths at the grave of Sheikh Russel. At that time the holy Quran was recited.
After offering the prayers, the club officials returned to their club office at Bashundhara. Then a festive mood was prevailing. Director in-charge Ismat Jamil Akand Lavlu cut a cake at the office and offered a piece of cake to the club’s vice-president Meer Samir.
Ismat Jamil Akand Lavlu said, “It is a day of joy alongside mourning. Our club’s chairman and the country’s largest business conglomerate Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir is now abroad for business purpose. We are observing the programme at the directive of the club’s chairman.”
After cutting the cake, the programme ended at club camp following a special prayer. Besides, a Khatam-e-Quran ceremony was also held.
Club players and officials were present during the programme.
Marking this birthday programme, Jamil Akand promised to form a strong team for next season saying, “You will be surprised during team change of the players. This time, we will form a strong team with the country’s top players along with some foreign players.”
