Sayem Sobhan Anvir Visits Puja Mandap in Bashundhara

Managing Director of the country’s leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group and East West Media Group, Sayem Sobhan Anvir, on Sunday night visited Puja Mandap in the city’s Bashundhara Residential Area along with Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque.

While speaking as the chief guest at a function at a Puja Mandap in Bashundhara Residential Area, AKM Shahidul Haque said that Durga Puja is being held at 29,340 temples and mandaps across the country amid much festivity and without any untoward incident.

He said that sometimes evil forces try to raise their ugly heads but members of the police and other law enforcement agencies with the help of people have cracked down on them. As such, militants have failed to implement their evil agenda.

“The law and order have improved because of collective efforts of the police and people. Without the help of people, it is impossible for police to discharge their professional duties properly,” he added.

The IGP called upon the people to extend their continuous support to the police.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said Puja is not a festivity of any particular community. Transcending the boundary of religiosity, it has become a social function having a universal appeal.

He said foolproof security has been ensured in 226 mandaps in Dhaka. The capital will come under security blanket on the day of Dashami.

Rajesh Mitra, Counsellor of Indian High Commission in Dhaka, said he is very happy to see that a big religious festival like Durga puja is being held at a large number of mandaps amid festivity and safety.

He said Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have the political consensus on the common issues. Both the countries are working together to fight terrorism and militancy and achieve development goals.

Earlier, the guests were accorded reception with bouquets.

Managing Director of Bashundhara Group Sayem Sobhan Anvir, his wife and Director of Bashundhara Group Sabrina Sobhan, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Administration) Binoy Krishna Bala, Rangdhanu Group Chairman Sheikh Rafikul Islam and other high officials of police were present on the occasion.

Puja committee president Tapan Chandra Bhowmik delivered the welcome address.
