Diwali, Cultural Fests Enthrall Audiences at ICCB

Indian artistes on Saturday enthralled the audience by singing songs and performing dance in the capital.

The Indian Association of Bangladesh (IABD) organised the programme at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), marking the Deepawali festival.

Newly-appointed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Kumar Verma and Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir attended the cultural programme.

Sabrina Sobhan, Bashundhara Group Director and wife of Bashundhara Group Managing Director, was present while spouse of Indian High Commissioner attended the event.

Addressing the programme, Pranay Verma said, “I congratulate the members of the Indian Association of Bangladesh. They are playing a special role in promoting Indian culture in Bangladesh. The Indian High Commission is always working for the development of this community. They are like a family.”

Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir said, “Such Deepawali arrangement in Bangladesh is really amazing. I am very happy to attend such an event. And I hope this event will bring joy and happiness in the hearts of all of you.”

Deepawali festival, which aims to conquer evil and spread light over darkness, showcased a cultural performance by Indian community in Dhaka followed by musical night featuring Bollywood’s renowned playback singer Abhijeet Sawant.

The IABD president Ajay Agal said, “This festival is a symbol of happiness and prosperity. The streets of the city are decorated with garlands of lights. In the light of various lights, lamps, candles, the surrounding darkness disappears. May all obstacles in your life be removed this Deepawali. May you all have a good start in life.”

The main attraction of the event was Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant. This Indian music sensation drenched the audience with the rain of tunes spreading the melody in the auditorium.
