Bashundhara Kings sign Brazil’s Robinho, Fernandez

Lionel Messi's Argentine teammate Hernan Barcos played in the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Cup after signing for Bashundhara Kings last season. The 36-year-old forward set foot in Dhaka with his two new partners.

Bashundhara Kings have recruited two Brazilian footballers Robson Robinho and Jonathan Fernandez to boost their strength ahead of the AFC Cup. Barcos arrived in Dhaka yesterday with the two stars. However, this year's edition of the AFC Cup has been cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the continent's governing body for soccer said in a statement on Thursday.

Bashundhara Kings has confirmed through social media that three Latin footballers of the team have set foot in Dhaka. They posted a photo of Barcos, Robinho and Fernandez on their official Facebook page. The Bangladesh Premier League champions wrote in the caption, ‘The trio have arrived to win. The Kings shall roar again. Let's greet a heartiest welcome to Robinho, Fernandez and our El Pirata Hernan Barcos.’

Barcos scored 4 goals in the first match of the AFC Cup. He signed for Bashundhara Kings last season with the experience of playing 4 matches in Argentina jersey. At club level he has played for many well-known clubs in Latin and Europe. These include native club Racing, Brazil's Gremio, Palmeiras, Cruzeiro and Portugal's Sporting CP.

Bangladesh giants Bashundhara Kings have brought in Robinho and Fernandez this year to boost the team's strength after the expiration of their contract with veteran Costa Rican forward Daniel Colindres, who played in the Russia World Cup.

Left-back Robinho has signed a one-year loan from the famous Brazilian club Fluminense in Bashundhara and 25-year-old midfielder Fernandez comes from another famous Brazilian club Botafogo.
