The second phase of annual cataract surgery programme organised by Kushtia-based humanitarian organisation Dwarka Das Welfare Society (DDWS) concluded at Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute on Wednesday. A total of 32 eye patients with severe problem underwent cataract surgery free of cost on the day. Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute and Vision Care Foundation assisted to organise the event, said DDWS founder Paban Kumar Agarwala in a press statement. Earlier, on November 24, the organisation hosted an eye camp in Harinarayanpur in Kushtia where a total of 2,300 impoverished eye patients have received treatment and medicines free of charge. Of them, 1,500 elderly and underprivileged patients got treatment protocol and medicines while some 32 patients were selected for free eye surgery. A total of 30 patients underwent surgery in the first phase on December 24.
