Bashundhara Shuvosangho has distributed sewing machines to 60 underprivileged women in Bancharampur of Brahmanbaria in a bid to empower the community.
Bashundhara Group Adviser Maynal Hossain Chowdhury handed over the sewing machines as the chief guest at a programme held at the upazila auditorium on Monday.
Disadvantaged women receive sewing machines in Bancharampur On behalf of the Bashundhara Group, the social volunteer platform has distributed more than 2,000 sewing machines in 23 districts of the country as of now.
Referring to the pledge of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, Adviser Maynal Hossain Chowdhury said that the philanthropic entrepreneur always thinks to do something for the people who are physically and mentally capable but financially disadvantaged.
“We have established schools in those areas where there are no scopes for education. Libraries have also been set up there. Sewing machines can empower individuals to earn a livelihood. Bashundhara Group has set an example by offering interest-free loans,” he said.
Shuvosangho Director Zakaria Zaman made the address of welcome while Prof Chan Mia Sarkar also spoke on the occasion.
