Bashundhara Group Managing Director and Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) President Sayem Sobhan Anvir has urged gold traders to set up jewellery factories across the country.
“You can set up small industries individually or jointly and then we will be able to export gold ornaments after meeting the country’s demand,” he said while addressing ‘Dhaka Divisional Representative Meeting 2022’ at BAJUS office at Bashundhara City Shopping Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
Sayem Sobhan Anvir said all traders must get united to help each other and make the gold business flourish across the country.
“I along with my whole committee will remain with you. Please cooperate with each other without any competition among yourselves.”
“We all are a family and the responsibility of the family is to look after each other,” he said.
Former BAJUS president MA Wadud Khan was also present at the meeting presided over by its district monitoring standing committee chairman Dr Dilip Kumar Roy.
Dr Dilip Kumar Roy said the government has announced the national gold policy, but it is not perfect.
“In the gold policy, there is a provision of import, but we have not found many other things in the policy, including exporting and setting up industries,” he said.
Wadud said everyone must be a member of BAJUS to do gold business and none can do business without trade licences in future.
