daily sun celebrates fifth anniversary

The daily sun, a media outlet of East West Media Group Limited (EWMGL), celebrated the fifth anniversary of its publication on Tuesday.
The new generation English newspaper started its journey on October 24 in 2010 with the slogan, ‘True and impartial’.
Readers, well-wishers, writers and eminent citizens attended the daylong gala reception organised on the occasion at its office in Bashundhara residential area in the capital. Sayem Sobhan Anvir, Managing Director of Bashundhara Group, the country’s leading business conglomerate, formally inaugurated the programme by cutting a huge cake.
Acting Editor of daily sun MD Jamilur Rahman, Advisory Editor Amir Hossain, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Kaler Kantho Editor Imdadul Haq Milan, Editor-in-Chief of Banglanews24.com Alamgir Hossain, Publisher of daily sun Maynal Hossain Chowdhury, Advisory Editor of Kaler Kantho Amit Habib and its Executive Editor Mostafa Kamal were present at the event.
Merrymaking on the part of daily sun journalists and other staffs knew no bounds on the fifth anniversary celebration of its journey to digging out true, unbiased and undistorted reports. The daily is trying to publish reports, articles, news and views upholding the spirit of nationality, religious harmony, social integrity and state sovereignty.
Speaking on the occasion, daily sun Acting Editor MD Jamilur Rahman said, “We are extremely grateful to the readers and patrons who have kept us afloat! It is good news at the end of the five eventful years that the readers have accepted our newspaper as a trustworthy vehicle for carrying all that is happening in the country. What else can a newspaper expect?”
“Well, challenges are there waiting to test our real strength as a media outlet. We have never been afraid of facing them since journalism is all about standing up to such challenges,” he added.
He further said, “We believe our readers, advertisers and patrons will ever remain with us. Thanks are due to all of them. Let the sun shine even more brightly in the days ahead.”
Renowned personalities, including academics, politicians, businesspersons and members of civil society, attended the daylong programme and they greeted Acting Editor MD Jamilur Rahman with bouquets. The programme began at 11:00am.
