Bashundhara treats Ijtema devotees with tissues
Dhaka, January 21: Muslim devotees in a human sea expressed great satisfaction as Bashundhara Group distributed some 10 tonnes of tissues for free among them at the Biswa Ijtema on Friday to give them a little comfort.
As the second phase of the congregation began, officials of BG, one of the largest business conglomerates of the country, also presented the devotees permanent calendars of prayers and Ramadan.
On-duty police were also given tissues as they are performing humanitarian duty to ensure security of the largest congregation next to holy hajj. A team of 80 BG employees distributed tissues among the devotees at different points near the main Ijtema venue. Ismail, one of the devotees,, said, “Tissue is a great help to us as we can keep ourselves fresh. No doubt, it is a great initiative by Bashundhara Group. I thank and pray for them for such a noble deed.”
Anarul, who has come from Meherpur with a 71-member team, said, “Every Muslim should keep himself or herself clean to say prayers. So, there is no alternative to using tissues for cleanliness.”
“I regularly use Bashundhara tissue as the quality of the soft paper is excellent and cost-effective,” he told daily sun. Like Ismail and Anarul, many a devotee was seen happy getting the free tissues, including toilet, facial and pocket tissues. Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Dhaka range) Asaduzzaman Mia and Gazipur Police Super Abdul Baten received a consignment of tissues at the main police camp near the Ijtema venue.
Asaduzzaman thanked Bashundhara Group for taking such a good initiative.
Talking to journalists, Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan said, “We have presented this small gift as a token of our gratitude to people.” According to the BG officials, tissues will also be distributed on Saturday.
The tissue-and calendar-distribution programme was led by BG Executive Director Col (retd) Awal, Secretary to the MD Khabibur Rahman Kanchan and Deputy General Manager (HR and admin) Mohammed Abdullah.
