Bashundhara stands by Chittagong fire victims
The country’s leading conglomerate Bashundhara Group (BG) extended a helping hand to fire victims at Anowara Upazila in the port city.
At a brief program on Wednesday, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of BG, Engineer Abul Kalam Shameem handed over cheques to 11 fire affected families in Paschimanchal village of Barshot union under the upazila.
The DMD attended the program as the chief guest.
Consoling the victims, the BG official said the slogan of Bashundhara Group is for the people, for the country. So, the group always comes forward to stand by helpless victims, he added.
Referring to an upcoming project at Anowara, Mr. Kalam said Bashundhara Group will prefer employing local people to implement the project.
The BG Executive Director Mohammad Enamul Gofran Chowdhury and Chief Engineer (Land) Mohammad Shaheed Hasan Lin were present as special guests on the occasion.
Mr. Chowdhury said Bashundhara Group will always stay beside the helpless people. It is the commitment of the group.
A fire engulfed 11 houses in Pashchimanchal village on February 12. Valuables worth around Tk. 2 million were gutted in the devastating blaze.
The victims expressed their satisfaction over the financial support.
