Bashundhara Kings U-17 second round trial concludes
Bashundhara Kings has officially concluded second round of their talent hunt programme by awarding 11 ‘Yes Card’s on the final day at Bashundhara Kings Headquarters on Bashundhara Residential Area.
70 talented youngsters were awarded ‘Yes Cards’ for the final round in total. 9 exceptional players were put on the waiting list on the final day.
Starting from 5500 youngsters who participated in the primary round of the talent hunt, 1532 players were selected in the second round. This round comprised of 222 youngsters. Finally, 70 players were selected. Among them, six are goalkeepers. The second phase was divided into six sections.
Bashundhara Kings coach Shafiqul Islam Manik was all praises for the youngsters who attended the trials despite the ongoing traffic gridlock.
“Today was the last trial of second round. People had to suffer a lot to come to the trials. Despite these sufferings, the youngsters came to the trials. I heard that some of the players even had to walk all way from Daudkandi to Meghna Bridge. I really commend your dedication to football,” said Manik.
The player turned coach, Shafiqul Islam Manik, felt that the final day’s trial participants exceeded all expectations.
“Today we went through four sessions of practice. The final day’s group was just phenomenal. We had a lot of talented young players who were under-16,” opined Manik
All the while the coach was aware of the heartbreak involved in every selection process and said that those who were selected should not lose hope.
“Those of you who did not get ‘Yes Card’ should not lose hope. You should focus on dedicating more time to football so that you get better at it by the day,” concluded Manik.
Earlier on the Monday, nine youngsters were awarded Yes Cards as part of the second phase of Bashundhara Kings Under-17 trial.
Meanwhile, in a bid to form a formidable squad, Bashundhara Kings has signed up six sensational youngsters for their upcoming Bangladesh Premier League 2018 campaign.
