The plight of Afizon Beua, a resident in Nohali Union under Gangachara Upazila in Rangpur, knew no bounds, as she had no warm clothes to encounter the bitterly cold weather.
The elderly woman, aged 70, was overwhelmed after receiving a blanket given by Bashundhara Group.
The country’s leading business conglomerate doled out more than 4,000 blankets to the cold-hit people at Nohali KNB High School, Pakuria Sharif Afzalia Shishu Sanad, Soirabazar, Burirhat and Mornea under the upazila on Thursday.
Like Afizon Beua, destitute people were overjoyed after receiving the blankets.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, Bashundhara Group distributed the blankets in those areas.
