‘Bashundhara City equipped with sophisticated firefighting technology’

A team of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence Training Complex said that Bashundhara City is equipped with the state-of-the-art firefighting system.
They made the comments during a visit to the shopping complex on Tuesday.
The 34-member team includes a course coordinator, two instructors and 31 newly-employed station officers led by Dinnomoni Sharma, a deputy assistant director of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence Training Complex.
Talking about the firefighting system, Dinnomoni Sharma said Bashundhara City shopping mall has got the most advanced fire protection system.
“All the fire fighting equipment of this building is functional and we have asked the fire safety department of the mall to maintain and monitor the system regularly,” he added.
The team entered the mall at about 12:00 noon and ended their visit around 2:00pm.
Senior officer (fire & safety in charge) of Bashundhara City Development Limited Mohammad Yousuf Ali has showed the team around to have a look at firefighting system in the complex.
TIM Latiful Husain, senior adviser (technical) to the Chairman of Bashundhara Group and in-charge of Bashundhara City Development Limited, was present during the visit.
He thanked the team for their visit to the shopping mall.
Maj (retd) Mustafa Rahel Imam, GM (admin & Hr) of Bashundhara City Development Limited, briefed the team about the fire safety system.
He said Bashundhara City has Building Automation System (BAS), centralised addressable fire instrument, adequate emergency escape routes, early warning system, public address system, trained firefighting team and other high-tech equipment.
“With the early warning system, firefighters can discover the reason for fire before it starts and centralised addressable fire instrument can help locate the fire scene immediately,” he said adding that they have Co2 suppression system which can douse the fire automatically at sub-station and AC plant.
