Bashundhara City also a role model in firefighting

Bashundhara City, the largest shopping mall in the Southeast Asia, is not only a symbol of aesthetic value but also a role model in the field of fire prevention and firefighting. The fire fighters of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) who participated in the ‘Leadership and Disaster Management Course’ visited the firefighting unit of Bashundhara City at Panthapath at 11:00am on Wednesday. They learnt about the use of various modern firefighting tools and equipment there. Those who are receiving the ongoing training course include deputy assistant director, senior station officer, station officer and warehouse inspector. A 33-member team led by FSCD Training Complex Adjutant Md Saleh Uddin visited the Bashundhara City’s firefighting unit. Md Saleh Uddin said, “Bashundhara City’s firefighting unit has become a role model. So, we have brought our trainees here as part of the training.” He said, “Bashundhara City’s firefighting unit is equipped with many modern tools which are not available in FSCD. So, this visit has helped our officers to gather practical knowledge.” People of the whole country are being benefited by Bashundhara Group, as FSCD officers are applying their knowledge which has been acquired from Bashundhara City’s firefighting unit, he said. TIM Latiful Hossain, in-charge of Bashundhara City and Senior Adviser (Technical) to Bashundhara Group’s Chairman, said, “The aim of Bashundhara Group is to work for the betterment of the country and its people. If the country benefits from your knowledge, it will be our achievement.” The FSCD officials visited the fire office at basement-2 of Bashundhara City and had a look at alarm panel, pump house and other equipment there. Gazi Golam Mostofa, in-charge of Bashundhara City’s Fire Safety, explained how the equipment are used. Bashundhara City, which has 1.912 million square feet space, has already drawn attention of the people at home and abroad for its aesthetic value.
