2nd Bashundhara Bangladesh Open from February 10

Bashundhara Group, the country’s leading business conglomerate, is going to bring the prestigious Asian Tour in Bangladesh once again after 7 a month-gap, titled as 2nd Bashundhara Bangladesh Open 2016, at Kurmitola Golf Club (KGC) in Dhaka from February 10-13.
Aside Bangladesh ace golfer Siddikur Rahman, over 230 golfers from Asia, Africa, Europe and America, including 30 Bangladesh golfers (25 emerging professional golfers and five amateur golfers), are expected to participate in this international golf competition.
Ahead of the upcoming golf tournament, a media conference was held at Kurmitola Golf Club on Wednesday where 2nd Bashundhara Bangladesh Open 2016 Organising Committee Member and Media Committee Chairman Brigadier General (retd) Salim Akhtar announced the tournament’s rules and regulations.
Among others, Bangladesh Golf Federation (BGF) Joint Secretary Brigadier General (retd) Mohammad Obaidul Haque and Golf Club Tournament Committee President Brigadier General (retd) Abidur Reza Khan, Bashundhara Group Head of Brand Selim Ullah Selim and Manager Saiful Islam Rubel were also present at the press meet.
“Except Cricket and Football, we have been working hard to make the event as one of the most popular sports events across the country for last 5-7 years. Country’s ace golfer Siddikur has already lifted Bangladesh’s image to a new height. Siddikur will also take the center stage for Bangladesh in this event. Obviously, we are thankful to Bashundhara Group for their supporting hand. We are glad to see that they are being with Asian Tour once again,” Brigadier General (retd) Salim Akhtar said.
“I never believe that golf is the event only for elite people. Gradually, golf has become everybody’s game. Six or seven newcomers, who took part in the last couple of golf events recently, will possibly come in limelight through the upcoming 2nd Bashundhara Bangladesh Open. Apart from experienced Dulal, Milon and Jamal, Sujit, Mazed and Liton Hawladar are among the newcomers who will take part in the four-day long mega event,” he added.
According to Bashundhara Bangladesh Open 2016 Organising Committee Member Brigadier General (retd) Salim Akhtar, the prize money of the four-day long mega event will be 300,000 USD.
